What happened
AirTags designed to find objects have also been used to track people without consent. Lawsuits allege that Apple knew its original safeguards were not strong enough when the product launched.
The risk comes from real-world misuse of a legitimate product, not from malicious code.
What was found
Unknown-tracker alerts may take four to eight hours, and modified AirTags can have their speakers removed. After class certification was denied, more than 30 individual cases continued separately.
