Is Mistero VPN safe? No-logs, in plain language

The short answer

• Who makes it: Mistero VPN is made by AppZilla Pte Ltd, the seller named on our App Store listing. More on theAbout page.
• Your traffic: we don't record the sites you visit, your DNS queries, or anything linking your real IP to the IP you appear as. The details are below.
• What the app does collect: account and subscription data, plus app analytics and advertising identifiers, as shown on our App Store privacy label. What that label covers, and how to say no to the tracking part.
• Billing: subscriptions are billed and renewed by Apple. You cancancel any time in your Apple subscription settings, and ask Apple for arefund.
• Not Mysterium: Mistero VPN isn't related to Mysterium VPN or the Mysterium Network.

What "no-logs" means here

When you're connected to Mistero, your traffic passes through our servers. We do not record it. Specifically, we never store:

• Browsing activity — the sites you visit, the apps you use, the content of your traffic.
• DNS queries — the domain lookups your device makes through the tunnel.
• Connection pairing — no record linking your account to a destination, and no record linking your real IP to the IP you appear as.
• Session timestamps tied to activity — nothing that could reconstruct what you did and when.

Because we don't write this traffic data down, there is no record of it for us to sell, leak or hand over.

What the product does process

Running a paid service requires some data. Here is the complete list, and why each exists:

• Account email and password hash — to sign you in and recover your account.
• Subscription status and invoices — your plan, renewal date and payment records (held by Apple through the App Store).
• Aggregate server health — anonymous counters like total load per server, used to route you to a fast one. Not traceable to any individual.
• App analytics and advertising identifiers — the iOS app collects device identifiers and usage events, as disclosed on our App Store privacy label, to improve the app and measure marketing.
• Support and feedback — what you send us when you contact us and, with your consent, device information such as system version, device model and system language.

About the App Store privacy label

Our App Store listing discloses that identifiers and usage data may be used for tracking, third-party advertising and analytics. That disclosure is about product analytics in the app — which screens are used, whether an install came from an ad. It is not, and has never been, about your VPN traffic. The tunnel carries your data; the analytics measure the app around it. The two are separate systems: the analytics are not a record of your VPN traffic.

The analytics run in the app itself, not inside the VPN tunnel that carries your traffic. And you can say no to the tracking part: when iOS asks whether to allow tracking, choose Ask App Not to Track, or turn off Allow Apps to Request to Track later in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking. The app works the same either way.

What we'd say to a data request

If a valid legal request asks for a user's browsing activity, we don't have it to provide. What we hold is limited to what is listed above — for example, whether an email address has an active subscription.

Check it yourself
